The Traffic-Getting Strategy Of Inserting Yourself Into The Traffic Loop

I often get asked “how do I get traffic to my new blog when it’s not ranked?” along with “I have like 1 thing I can think to write about a week but I need more posts to get a following and search ranking..what do I do?” Well here’s a traffic getting technique I teach to supplement your value posting with, that will still provide value for the visitor, enticing them to become followers.
How many times on Facebook or Twitter do you see a trending topic that appeals to your target market that points to a link?  That link then points back to the original article/post.  It can be the Wall St Journal,  The Marketing Pilgrim or Mashable, it doesn’t matter. The point is that doing that totally takes their site out of the traffic loop.
If you find an article that would be of interest to your target market, try this technique instead.  Summarize the article for a paragraph or so, just hitting the high points.  Then ask a compelling question to inspire interactive comments.  Link to the original source at the bottom “To Read Entire Article” using “anchor text” where the reader can read the entire article.  This will also give you “link juice” for your site.
Now tweet the link on Twitter or post on Facebook.  You have now inserted yourself into the “traffic loop”.  I’ve had people say “is this underhanded”.  The answer is absolutely not! You are publicizing the original site and providing a summary while also providing a backlink in exchange for a little traffic…. And sometimes it’s a lot of traffic!
In fact it’s the entire model used to grow such renowned blogs as The Drudge Retort!  Sometimes they only have 2 compelling sentences directly quoted from the article, then the link and followed by tons of reader comments.  The service they provide is that they aggregate together only stories that would interest their target market so their target market doesn’t have to go out and wade through all the other crap to uncover what interests them.
Now here’s the great part.  With the ever shortening attention span of those that click on your social media marketed link, typically they will see everything they need to in your summary and a percentage will proceed go to another post or two if you’ve grabbed their interest.  You see; they only wanted the high points anyway!  We’re also seeing that the “traffic loop” links are then re-tweeted and passed on to others as well.
Start with subscribing to several RSS feeds that break news, developments or valuable content that would appeal to your target market.  Check it in the morning then in just before lunch and take 10-15 minutes to create a “traffic loop summary post”.  Now broadcast it using social media.
If you want to track it you can easily use the “StumbleUponlink shortner which will show you the link clicks in real time and also graph them together to show traffic trends coming from those links.  It’s a great free tool!
Welcome to easy traffic wave generation, thus giving you a great boost of traffic that the search engines recognize and begin to increase your ranking to dominate searches for the keywords you have pre-determined for your site.  In fact, I’ll go into how you can optimize your site to dominate a search in one of my next posts so that you have that as well so stay tuned.
So don’t fret over what to write about to get traffic and instead supplement your value posts with this technique!
If you have any questions about using these techniques or strategies you’re probably not the only one so post a comment with your question so I can answer it for everyone.
